Outdoor Pool Update

We know how much our community values the outdoor pool at Sunshine Leisure Centre, and we know the frustrations experienced each day it remains closed. The outdoor pool is an important part of our facility, and we are committed to ensuring it is safe, sustainable, and ready for you to enjoy again.

Our most recent investigations have revealed several leaks in the pool shell. These leaks account for a significant water loss of around 20,000 litres per day. Continuing to operate the pool under these conditions would not only waste precious water through refilling but also require large volumes of chemicals and energy to constantly re-treat and heat the pool. Council agrees it would be irresponsible to do so.

For this reason, the outdoor pool will remain closed while we undertake the necessary works to address the issues. At this stage, we anticipate reopening around November.

In the meantime, Sunshine Leisure members are welcome to continue using the 50m indoor pool at Brimbank Aquatic and Wellness Centre as an alternative. Our customer service team will be happy to assist you in arranging access.

We appreciate your patience and understanding while these essential works take place. We will continue to provide regular updates via email, on our website, social media, and centre signage, so you know exactly when the outdoor pool will be ready for you to once again enjoy.

Again, rest assured, Council and the leisure team understand what a critical asset the outdoor pool is for this much loved leisure centre. So it remains a high priority to get these repairs done as soon as possible and get it back open to our valued members and community.

Thank you for your support.

If you want to discuss further, email Centre Manager Drew at drewh@brimbank.vic.gov.au.
